Hear Kronic’s Haunting New Single ‘Dark Shapes’ feat. Nikki Jean

Beatport chart alum and bass master, Kronic, recently gave us ‘NRG’ feat. Nikki Jean & Conkarah (premiered on BBC Radio 1) and now we have the follow up release Dark Shapes‘ feat. Nikki Jean.

Kronic has teamed up again with Lupe Fiasco collaborator, Nikki Jean, and vocalist Xavier Dunn for the ‘Dark Shapes‘. ‘Dark Shapes’ is the first official single from Kronic’s upcoming debut EP Sophisticated Ignorance which is due out on May 13th.

Kronic has incorporated modern electronic dance music tones with hip-hop beats, making the track feel like a brooding aggression. The hard piano rolls and Dunn’s falsetto pair beautifully before Kronic’s beats come in. When talking about the meaning behind ‘Dark Shapes’, Kronic described the single as  “…memories of someone you have lost, or the fantasy of lusting for someone who is forbidden. You keep trying to picture them, but the more you do, the more the image loses detail and fades to the dark.”

The track dropped just dropped on Soundcloud and is already gaining support across the world.

Magnetic Magazine describes ‘Dark Shapes’ as “….an attention-commanding work with a beautifully painful duet that feels like Massive Attack meets chill trap.”
